SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • 5/8 yd white cotton fabric
  • 1/2 yd quilting fabric A
  • 1/4 yd each of quilting fabrics B, C, D and E
  • 3/8 yd of quilting fabric F
  • 45” x 54” piece for backing
  • 1/2 yd fabric for binding
  • Crib size batt
  • Rotary cutter, ruler and mat
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Iron and pressing surface
  • Sewing machine

DIRECTIONS:
40” x 49” Quilt
 
Read all instructions before sewing.
Sew with accurate ¼” seams throughout.
From white fabric cut 4 strips – 3 ½” x WOF.
From fabric A cut 2 strips – 3 ½” x WOF.
Following Diagram 1, sew a white strip on each side of an A strip.  Press.  Cut 24 pieces (as shown) at 3 ½” x 9 ½”.
From fabric A cut 12 – 9 ½” x 3 ½” strips.  Sew your previously prepared 3 ½” x 9 ½” piece on each side of the A strip.  You will have 12 units.  Set aside.
From white cut 6 – 5” x 5” squares and 6 – 2 ¾” x 5” rectangles.
From B cut 6 – 5” x 5” squares and 2 – 2 ¾” x 5” rectangles.
From C cut 6 – 5” x 5” squares and 4 – 2 ¾” x 5” rectangles.
From fabrics D and E cut 6 – 5”x 5” squares and 3 – 2 ¾” x 5” rectangles.
From fabric F cut 10 – 5” x 5” squares and 4 – 2 ¾” x 5 “ rectangles.
Refer to Diagram 2 for sewing guide and Diagram 3 for fabric placement. Sew into rows.
Press seams.  Follow Diagram 3 and sew rows together.
Sandwich backing, batting and quilt top.  Quilt as desired.
Trim and bind your quilt.

JOANN Hacks:
  • Make labels W and A to F. As you cut your pieces you can lay them in the appropriate labeled spots to grab for easier assembly.
