SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Unfinished wood shape
  • Easy Cast Clear Casting Epoxy, 16oz
  • Mixing cup set, 8oz
  • Alcohol Ink, various colors
  • Bone folder
  • Disposable gloves
  • Contact clear adhesive liner
  • Painters tape
  • Scissors

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Prepare your wood cutout by covering the back side with contact clear adhesive liner so that all openings are covered. Burnish the liner with rounded side of the bone folder so that it is firmly attached to the wood. Trim liner to the edge of the outer shape. Use small pieces of tape to wrap around the edges of the wood, securely attaching the contact line and creating a seal on the edges.
  2. Working on a protected work surface, mix epoxy following the directions provided in the kit. If you are filling your shape with carious solid colors, divide them among the mixing cups and color with alcohol ink, mixing well to incorporate. For a marbled lol. Leave epoxy clear for now.
  3. Fill openings in wood shape with epoxy, taking care not to over fill. Use pipettes to fill small areas and corners.
  4. For a marbled look, drop alcohol ink colors into the epoxy when wood openings are 3/4 way full. Drop small amounts of epoxy on top of ink to help move it around.
  5. Once openings are filled, use the heat gun to pop any bubbles.
  6. Allow epoxy to harden overnight. Once epoxy has cured, remove tape and contact liner.

JOANN HACKS:
