Wood Canvas Painting

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Wood canvas with FA LA LA LA and Santa Hat, 18.5"x 24"
• Varathane wood stain, golden mahogany, pint
• Mineral spirits
• Rag
• Acrylic paint, Americana, Royal Fuchsia, Blush Pink, White, 2 oz (1 each)
• Artist brushes, 1/2" flat & #0 round
• Palette
• Sandpaper, fine

DIRECTIONS:

1. Use 1/2" flat brush to apply stain. Immediately wipe stained surfaces the direction of the grain of the wood to remove excess stain. This will expose the grain of the wood.
2. Paint lettering surfaces with white paint.
3. Paint Santa hat with fuchsia on the hat and pink on the brim and pompom.
4. The layer of paint to the lettering may raise the grain and sharpen imperfections on the edges of the lettering. Gently sand the lettering to soften edges. Take time when sanding to avoid any sanding marks into the natural wood background. Apply a second coat of paint to the lettering and the Santa hat.
