DIRECTIONS:

NOTE: All seams are 5/8" unless stated.

  1. Cut out collar to pattern # 4 and cut out # 5 for ruffle instructions.
  2. Cut a bias strip 1 1/4"X 90" long. Bias strip can be pieced together to equal 90". The extra bias strips will be the ties and decorative trim.
  3. Press fusible to top collar, place gathered ruffles to collar as instructed in pattern view.
  4. With right sides together, sew neck seam and collar together leaving small opening for turning.
  5. Fold bias strips, right sides in, sew a ¼ seam, turn with a loop turner or use a bias trim attachment.
  6. Mark off 20" for tie end, sew the bias trim starting at the neckline curving to bottom where the collar and ruffle join. Leave another 20" for the other end for a tie. Cut off any excess. Tie ends into knots to secure.

JOANN HACKS:

  • When making ruffles collar, the width of collar can be adjusted to desired size.
  • Using a bias trim attachment makes sewing a long bias strip easier to handle.
