Item # 262492791P303
Beginner 1-2 Hours

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Linen: 1 yd
  • Foam Sheets
  • Masking or Painter's Tape
  • Acrylic or Fabric Paint
  • Scrap Paper
  • Scissors

DIRECTIONS:

NOTE:
Work on a protected surface as paint will bleed through the fabric.
  1. Cut fabric into rectangles 13"x 18".
  2. Cut along the grain lines for even frayed edges.
  3. Remove 5-6 threads from each side to fray the edges.
  4. From foam sheets, cut desired shapes for the placemat design.
  5. If using multiple colors, it may be helpful to use different colored foam sheets.
  6. Use tape to make a tab/handle on each stamp.
  7. This will help with lifting the stamp from the paint & placemat without smudging the edges.
  8. Pour paint onto scrap paper.
  9. Dip stamp into paint.
  10. Brush stamp against an open area of the paper to remove excess paint.
  11. There should be a thin even layer on the surface of the stamp.
  12. Place stamp on the fabric & press evenly across the surface.
  13. The side of the paint bottle (with the lid tightly closed) can be used as a rolling pin to apply even pressure.
  14. Lift stamp from surface using tape handle.
  15. Repeat until placemat is stamped as desired.
  16. Let paint dry in between colors if layering stamps on top of each other.
