SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- Linen: 1 yd
- Foam Sheets
- Masking or Painter's Tape
- Acrylic or Fabric Paint
- Scrap Paper
- Scissors
DIRECTIONS:
NOTE:Work on a protected surface as paint will bleed through the fabric.
- Cut fabric into rectangles 13"x 18".
- Cut along the grain lines for even frayed edges.
- Remove 5-6 threads from each side to fray the edges.
- From foam sheets, cut desired shapes for the placemat design.
- If using multiple colors, it may be helpful to use different colored foam sheets.
- Use tape to make a tab/handle on each stamp.
- This will help with lifting the stamp from the paint & placemat without smudging the edges.
- Pour paint onto scrap paper.
- Dip stamp into paint.
- Brush stamp against an open area of the paper to remove excess paint.
- There should be a thin even layer on the surface of the stamp.
- Place stamp on the fabric & press evenly across the surface.
- The side of the paint bottle (with the lid tightly closed) can be used as a rolling pin to apply even pressure.
- Lift stamp from surface using tape handle.
- Repeat until placemat is stamped as desired.
- Let paint dry in between colors if layering stamps on top of each other.
