SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Photos (on photo paper sized to roughly 2"x 2" or sized to fit your desired coaster shape)
  • Scissors
  • Coaster mold
  • UV Resin
  • UV Resin light
  • Pink opaque resin dye
  • Glitter
  • Mod Podge
  • Medium flat brush
  • Water and paper towels for clean up
  • Disposable cup
  • Popsicle stick

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cut out the photos and paint the front and back with a thin coat of Mod Podge. Set aside to dry.
  2. Squirt 1/2" of resin into the disposable cup. Mix in resin dye using a popsicle stick to get the desired color.
  3. Gently pour the colored resin around the rim of the coaster.
  4. Set the resin with the UV light as directed on the packaging.
  5. Next, apply a thin coat of clear resin and set with the UV Light.
  6. Apply another thin coat of resin and add glitter as desired, then set with the UV light.
  7. Apply the final bottom layer or clear resin and set with a UV light.
  8. Once the base of the coaster is all cured with the light, remove it from the mold and place onto your work surface.
  9. Apply a dime sized dot of resin onto the center of the coaster. Press the photo into the resin, pushing the excess out the sides. This will act as a glue to hold the photo. Then place a layer of resin over the top of the entire photo and coaster. Once the top is covered, set with a UV light. Flip the coaster over and place under the light to cure any resin under the photo that the light could not hit.

Craft Hack Tips and Tricks:

  • Make a cohesive design by choosing photos with similar colors, a theme, or by using all black and white.
  • If you don’t have Mod Podge, packaging tape can be used to seal the photos just make sure to remove any bubbles and apply as cleanly as possible, or the bubbles and lines will show up in the resin.
