SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Yarn
  • Scissors
  • Cardboard
  • X-Acto Knife

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Use the provided pattern and an X-Acto knife to cut two circles out of cardboard that are about 6" wide. Cut out the center shapes as well.
  2. Cut a 12" piece of yarn and sandwich the yarn between the two cardboard shapes. Place both cardboard circle shapes on top of each other and wind the end of a skein of yarn through and around the shapes until the entire surface of the edges is covered in yarn. To create an extra fluffy pom pom, wind the yarn around the shape several more times.
  3. Pull the center 12" piece of yarn to the bottom, pulling it tightly. Tie together but not in a double knot quite yet.
  4. Stick scissors through the outside edge and in between the two layers of cardboard. Cut all loops around the edge of the circle shape.
  5. Once pom pom is separated from the cardboard, tie the center 12" piece of yarn as tightly as possible in a double knot. Remove cardboard.
  6. Use scissors to trim edges and shape the pom pom, making it more rounded. Fluff the ends of the yarn.
