Painted Wood Ornaments

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • Wood laser cut ornaments - assorted patterns available
  • Assorted bottles of acrylic paint in colors of your choice
  • Small flat paintbrush
  • Small detail paintbrushes
  • Pencil and eraser
  • Wooden circle discs
  • Wooden letters & symbols
  • Drill (optional)
  • Gorilla Glue clear grip contact adhesive
  • Rust-Oleum Satin Finish spray
  • Fine sand paper (optional)
DIRECTIONS:
  1. Drill a hole in the top of any ornament bases without a hole for hanging.
  2. Lightly sand wood shapes to remove any rough edges.
  3. Paint shapes as desired using acrylic paint.
  4. Transfer designs to wood surface using a pencil before painting.
  5. Once both pieces are dry, adhere the letters and symbols with small amount of gorilla glue to the center of each disc.
  6. Spray each ornament with the clear satin spray with 2-3 coats following the directions on the can.

JOANN HACKS:
  • Make sure the previous layer of paint is dry before applying the next layer. To give your ornament more definition, you could outline the design using a fine tip black sharpie marker.
