    1. Organizing Fabric Pieces:

      • Label the three sandwich plastic bags as follows:
        • Square in a Square Bag, Star Point Bag, Finishing Pieces Bag
        • Carefully gather the following fabric pieces that were cut from Fabric Cutting Chart and place in the bag indicated._x000B_

        • Fabric A:
          • Four 4 1/8" squares (Star Point Bag)
          • Four 3 1/2" squares (Finishing Bag)
        • Fabric B:
          • One 6 1/2" square (Square in a Square Bag)
        • Fabric C:
          • Two 4 1/2" squares (Star Point Bag)
        • Fabric D:
          • Two 4 1/2" squares (Star Point Bag)
        • Fabric E:
          • Four 3 1/2" squares (Square in a Square Bag)

    2. Sew a Square in a Square Unit:

      • Use pieces from the Square in a Square bag.
      • Refer to Diagram 1, following the steps below.
      • Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of the four 3 1/2" Fabric E squares.
      • Pin two of the marked Fabric E squares on opposite corners of the 6 1/2" Fabric B square, wrong sides together, making sure corners match exactly.
      • Carefully sew over the drawn lines.
      • To check corner edges, fold outside corner of Fabric E towards seam and fold opposite corner over to cover Fabric B._x000B_If Fabric E and B corners do not line up, or if they are more than slightly off, re-sew.
      • Check the opposite Fabric E square in the same manner.
      • Once edges on both corners have been checked, trim bottom two layers, leaving a 1/4" seam allowance.
      • Press seam allowances toward Fabric E.
      • Repeat to sew the remaining two Fabric E Squares to the opposite corners.
      • This will yield one 6 1/2" Square in a Square unit.
      • Put the unit aside.

      • Press seam allowances open.
      • Snip off extending corner points.
      • Draw a diagonal line down the wrong side of two Fabric D/C half square triangle units as shown in Diagram 3.
      • Pair each D/C unit with a 4 1/8" Fabric A square, right sides together.
      • Pin in place with seams lined up.
      • Sew 1/4" away from both sides of the drawn line.
      • Cut along the drawn line on both pairs to yield a total of four sets of two mirror imaged Star Point units.

    4. Divide in two piles as shown in Diagram 4:

      • Pile 1 with D/C side on the left (with Fabric D on top) and Fabric A side on the right.
      • Press seam allowance toward Fabric A on Pile 1 units.
      • Pile 2 with Fabric A side on the left and D/C side on the right._x000B_Press seam allowance toward the Fabric D/C side.
