Beginner 3-5 Hours

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Solid Core Cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Paper Cutter
  • Glue
  • Clothespins
  • Paper Cups

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cut Cardstock into 5/8" strips. Glue two strips end to end to create one long strip. You will need an even number of strips. For this tutorial, we are using 12 long strips.
  2. Place two strips on a flat surface criss-cross wise. Adding strips one at a time, using an over and under pattern. You will end up with six vertical and six horizontal strips.
  3. Starting with any two middle strips, weave one over the other. Continue to weave each strip into the next, using the over and under pattern.Use the clothespins to secure the side, continue to weave the other 3 sides over and under to form the rest of the corners of the basket. You can use a small drop of glue to secure spots as you continue.
  4. When you reach the top of your basket, cut the strips, leaving a little flap that you can glue to the inside to finish. You can use the paper cups to slide inside the basket to hold your treats.

JOANN HACKS:

  • Adjust the size of your basket by adjusting the size of your strips width or length.
  • You can also add additional strips so you have even numbers on each side. Play around with different textures and colors for unique basket patterns.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible The instructions lack clear direction. Did anyone at joanns try to create following the instructions? It can't be completed following the instructions given. A video or pictures would have been good. Nice try but poor execution.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from visual aids I agree with many comments regarding lack of photos or diagrams to explain/ illustrate the steps. Even a video would be helpful. I thought to make for grandkids, but not this year with too many unknowns in directions!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor example of basketmaking No pictures, no guidance on sides, nothing on finishing the top, and no mention of the handle. So misleading.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Tutorial I'm sure whoever wrote this tutorial never tried to follow the directions. It's a really cute project, but impossible to make with these "directions." Pictures and diagrams are a must when creating usable directions.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Makes little sense Would love to try to make this, but no idea how much card stock, nor how to actually form the basket. Better directions surely needed, with pictures.
