SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Flannel fabric
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Cricut Maker™ with rotary blade (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Pre-wash all fabric prior to cutting.
  2. MAKEUP REMOVER PADS
  3. Cut 2 1/2" circles from flannel by hand or using the Cricut Maker. Each cloth requires two pieces.
  4. Match pieces wrong sides together and stitch around edges using a zig-zag stitch. Set the stitch wide and the length short and stitch so that the other stitch falls just over the edge of the pad.
  5. WASHCLOTHS
  6. Cut squares 8 1/2" for small cloths and 12 1/2" for large clothes. Each cloth requires two pieces.
  7. Match pieces right sides together. Sew around all four edges using 1/4" seam allowance and leave an opening on one edge to turn the cloth right side out. Clip across corners and turn right side out. Press and topstitch, closing the opening in the process.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Project! I think this is a great sewing project to reduce your carbon footprint or to reduce the amount of single-use makeup wipes from the store. Personally, I use mine with micellar water. I made mine from cotton instead, and they work just as well. Better yet, anything 100% cotton is biodegradable so this is a great eco-friendly project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scrap buster I had some leftover scraps from other projects so I used them. I made them more work by sewing right sides together and turning right sides out and top stitching. They are cute. Best left for boredom in between projects.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great idea for the environmentally conscious I have been trying to reduce my carbon footprint this past year by cutting back on plastics and single use items like wipes, paper towels etc. this is a great idea for those who don’t want mascara stains on hand towels. Made enough for 2 weeks in about an hour
