Has an abundant amount of oil in it.
We bought this cute Janome sewing machine for the grandkids to learn to sew on it. In setting up the machine, it had an oily smell to it, and I really didn't focus on it as much as I was setting up the machine and sewing on it. I was using white thread and noticed that it was coming out a gray color on the top stitch. The bobbin thread was perfect. I took the metal plate off to examine underneath and it was covered in machine oil. I wiped it out carefully as well as the bobbin case. I put everything back correctly and tried some more sample sew stitches. I have been a Janome owner for over 30+ years and I do professional sewing have never encountered anything like this. Has anyone else encountered this issue? It is a wonderful little machine and a great sewing machine for kids to learn on.

Sturdy little machine that is light as a feather.
Love this little machine, it is light but sturdy. Great for taking to class and you cannot beat the price. Takes class 15 bobbins and uses the same feet as my Jazz II

Good machine for a starter.
I bought this to use at my Rock and Gem society for making grab bags. Works great for this. Lightweight and easy to carry. Now I just gotta get a cute bag to carry it in!!

AWESOME n SIMPLE machine
I bought my Janome at Joanns about 7 years ago. I can't tell you how many items I have sewn but it was A LOT!! At least 20 dog bed covers, a dozen curtains, hemmed jeans, fixed other clothing articles n this tough machine has been amazing!! Super easy to thread because the order is easily numbered. To create a new bobbin is very easy. I have taken it apart to clean n dust out debris n it's real easy to do. I just LOVE this machine!!

Good basic replacement for my 1969 White
Decided repairs on my old 1969 White were more than this new machine cost. Very similar basic machine, all I need, plus some modern conveniences. Looking forward to many years of fun & creativity. Somewhat disappointed that Joanne's didn't have one available to see or try in the store. "In box" only in a storeroom and I had to ask for it specifically. That's why I go to the store for a major purchase like this, to first test drive & compare. But I'm perfectly satisfied with the product.

New Year New Toy for me
The last time I sewed something was in high school. I've been doing minor clothing alterations by hand, and my fingers are starting to ache from hand sewing. Now that I'm retired, it's an excellent time to sew on a sewing machine at home.
