SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Wire cutters
  • 24-gauge floral wire
  • Floral tape
  • Hot glue gun/glue gun sticks
  • 2 Fern bushes
  • 4 Foliage picks
  • 4 Banana Leaves, single stem
  • 2 Poppy hanging bush, red
  • 4 Peony picks
  • 2 Peony Ranunculus Cherry Chestnut picks
  • 3 Cherry Chestnut Leaf picks
  • 2 Peony Ranunculus bush, mixed

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Separate and split fern bushes in half. Remove the halves from the main bush using wire cutters. Use floral wire to gather and connect the half bunch of fern together. Once the ferns are split, there will be 4 separate bunches of fern.
  2. Lay out the 4 bunches of fern to form a long garland approximately 3 1/2" in length. Connect these 4 pieces using floral wire.
  3. To cover the wire on the last bunch of fern, use some greenery or remove a piece of fern from the garland to cover the wire. Hot glue the stem and insert the greenery on top of the wire to hide it. Set fern garland aside.
  4. Connect the banana leaves to form a garland as well. Connect the banana leaves by taping the stems together using floral tape. Place the fern garland on top of the banana leaves garland. Attach the two garlands together using floral wire.
  5. Separate the foliage picks into individual stems of greens. Add these stems throughout the fern garland using hot glue to attach them to the garland. Set aside a few stems of greens to add after the floral pieces have been included.
  6. Begin to include the floral into the garland. Trim the floral from the main bush leaving 3" or so of stem attached to the flowers. Insert one floral stem at a time using the hot glue or floral wire to attach them to the garland. Use the larger floral for the middle of the garland. Use the smaller floral at the ends to give the garland a tapered look.
  7. Continue to add floral and greenery until garland is full and colorful. Fill in any bare spots with leftover greens.

JOANN Hacks:

  • To attach the fern garland to the banana leaf garland at the top, insert a small wire through the fern and poke through the top of a banana leaf and twist it around the back side to secure the two pieces together.
