Layered Paper Frame Wall Art

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Cricut machine
  • Cricut Standard Grip Mat
  • Assorted cardstock
  • Cricut spatula
  • Foam mounts, approx 5-10 rolls
  • Scissors
  • Shadowbox frames

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above).
  2. Upload image into Design Space.
  3. Contour image layers.
  4. Adjust size of image to desired frame size: rocketship 12"x 12", stars and fire 8"x 8"
  5. Choose paper colors according to how many layers your image has. The rocketship eight layers of paper, the stars and fire have four layers of paper.
  6. In the layers panel of Design Space, select the eyeball icon and hide all layers except the largest layer of the image.
  7. Cut out this layer.
  8. Go back to Design Space screen and hide all layers again, except the next layer size down from the largest. Repeat step 5. Do this for all layers of the image until you have cut all layers.
  9. Mount paper with foam mounts, starting with the largest cut.
  10. Repeat until all paper layers are mounted together. Frame.

JOANN Hacks:

  • Use mounting tape, double the tape on the paper to add thickness.
  • Use a shadowbox frame.
