SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Felt 9"x 12", Cashmere Tan, 2 sheets
  • Felt 9"x 12", Pumpkin Spice
  • Felt 9"x 12", Walnut Brown
  • Embroidery thread, Pink
  • Embroidery thread, White
  • Embroidery thread, Tan
  • Embroidery thread, Black (Eyes option 1)
  • Small black beads (Eyes option 2)
  • Scissors
  • Embroidery needle
  • Polyfil® stuffing
  • Hot glue gun/glue gun sticks
  • Pattern templates

DIRECTIONS:

To print the patterns, click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above).
  1. Cut two Lion Body pieces from the cashmere tan felt.
  2. Cut out the Lion Face piece, Lion Mane piece, and Lion Nose piece.
  3. With the black thread, stitch the eyes onto the Lion Face piece using a French knot, or sew a black bead securely in place for the eyes.
  4. With the pink thread, create two small decorative stitches under each eye.
  5. Stitch the Lion Nose piece in place on the Lion Face piece using a back stitch.
  6. With the black thread, stitch the mouth with a back stitch.
  7. With the white thread, stitch the decorative stitches on the Lion's belly.
  8. Cut out the Lion Ear pieces from the cashmere tan felt.
  9. Layer the Lion Face on top of the Lion Mane piece and place both on top of the top Lion Body piece. Place the Lion Ears between the face and mane pieces. Sew around the Lion Face piece using a back stitch.
  10. Place the top and bottom Lion Body pieces together and sew around the edge with a blanket stitch, leaving a small hole for stuffing.
  11. Stuff the Lion.
  12. Sew the stuffing hole shut and tie off the thread.
  13. Cut 4 of the Lion Arms.
  14. Sew around the edge of both arms with a blanket stitch, leaving a small hole for stuffing.
  15. Stuff the arms.
  16. Sew the stuffing hole shut and tie off the thread.
  17. Stitch the arms to either side of the Lion.

Craft Hack Tips and Tricks:

  • For younger children, pattern pieces can be hot glued in place, rather than sewn.
