SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1 bag red perler beads
  • 1 bag grey perler beads
  • 1 bag light grey perler beads
  • 1 bag black perler beads
  • 1 bag white perler beads
  • 1 perler bead try
  • Iron

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Download bead diagram by clicking “download PDF" below Print Description on the right.
  2. Place perler beads on tray in pattern according to bead diagram. Make sure to leave holes (empty space) on the perler bead mask cover so it can be attached to the mask.
  3. Place provided parchment paper over perler beads on tray and iron following instructions provided with tray.
  4. Once the perler beads are melted together on one side but there are still small holes in each bead, remove from tray and flip to iron other side. Parchment paper should always remain between perler beads and iron.
  5. As the beads are ironed, one side should start to naturally curl to form a rounded shape. Once beads have cooled slightly but are still pliable (you may want to wear protective gloves) - pick up and gently continue to bend mask cover into the curved shape.
  6. The beads can be ironed a few more times until desired shape is reached. Tie a piece of scrap string or yarn through the holes to secure the shape and let cool completely for about an hour.
  7. Once cool, loop ties from mask through the openings left at the sides.

CRAFT HACK TIPS & TRICKS:

Mask cover fits most older child or small adult patterns. You may need to make adjustments to the bead diagram to get the right fit for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Some people can’t read! It is mask COVER not a mask so you are not wearing a “mask with holes in it.” If you happen to have a child that doesn’t want to wear a mask, this could be an option. I thought it was a great idea for a friend’s child who has a compromised immune system and requires a special mask. This might encourage the child to keep their mask on because it is fun! It is not like they are charging you for a pattern and instructions. It is just one idea. Grow up people!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It’s a mask COVER As stated in the description, it is a mask COVER, not a mask. It’s a cute idea to put over a mask, for those that have the medical type mask. I haven’t made this, but if the beads truly stick together I think it’s a cute idea!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nifty It is a cover to decorate on top of a mask. You still have to wear a mask you donuts. Read it mask "cover"

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a mask COVER Sigh people. It's a mask cover that goes over an existing mask. Seems like something kids would love.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Read the Title and Instructions Carefully The title calls it a "Mask Cover", and the inctructions do say to "leave holes to attacth to the mask", so thebead holes are really not anissue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cute cover idea! It should be noted that the beads are not the mask itself. After creating the shark design, it’s supposed to be placed on top of a cloth mask. This is a really cute idea to personalize your mask. If you are going to have to cover your face, you might as well find ways to enjoy it. Just saying.
