Fruit Pillows

Intermediate Weekend Project

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Pattern templates
  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine
  • White thread
  • Sewing needle
  • FiberFil stuffing
  • Chalk or water-soluble marker
  • Yellow fleece 1 yard
  • Orange fleece 1/2 yard
  • Green fleece 1/2 yard
  • Pink fleece 1 yard
  • Brown fleece 1/4 yard
  • White Felt
  • Black Felt

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Tape together the pattern templates as indicated.
  2. Trace the patterns and cut out pattern pieces (orange, lemon and lime pieces).
  3. Position the slice pieces onto the white piece and topstitch them.
  4. Topstitch the white piece in place onto the front of the orange, lime, or lemon body piece.
  5. Place together the front and back pieces, right sides together, and sew around, leaving a hole for stuffing.
  6. Turn the piece right side out.
  7. Stuff the pillow.
  8. Hand sew the hole.
  10. Banana
  11. Topstitch along the front of the yellow banana piece, as shown on the pattern.
  12. Place the brown top pieces right sides together and sew around, leaving the bottom open. Turn right side out and set aside. Repeat for brown bottom piece.
  13. Place the front and back yellow banana pieces together, right sides facing. Sandwich the top brown piece between the front and back yellow pieces, at the top of the banana. Sandwich the bottom brown piece between the front and back yellow pieces, at the bottom of the banana.
  14. Sew around, leaving a hole for stuffing.
  15. Turn the piece right side out.
  16. Stuff the pillow.
  17. Hand sew the hole.
  19. Pineapple
  20. Place the green pineapple top pieces right sides together and sew around, leaving the bottom open.
  21. Topstitch along the front of the yellow pineapple piece as shown on the pattern.
  22. Place the front and back yellow pineapple pieces together, right sides facing. Sandwich the top green pineapple piece between the front and back yellow pieces, at the top.
  23. Sew around, leaving a hole for stuffing.
  24. Turn the piece right side out.
  25. Stuff the pillow.
  26. Hand sew the hole.
  28. Strawberry
  29. Place the green top of the strawberry on top of the front pink piece. Topstitch along the bottom edge. Repeat for back of strawberry.
  30. Place the front and back of the strawberry, right sides together. Sew around, leaving a hole for stuffing.
  31. Turn the piece right side out.
  32. Stuff the pillow.
  33. Hand sew the hole.
  34. Cut out 15 strawberry seeds from white felt. Hot glue them to the front of the strawberry.
  36. Watermelon
  37. Place the green top of the watermelon on top of the front pink piece. Topstitch along the bottom edge. Repeat for back of watermelon.
  38. Place the front and back of the watermelon, right sides together. Sew around, leaving a hole for stuffing.
  39. Turn the piece right side out.
  40. Stuff the pillow.
  41. Hand sew the hole.
  42. Cut out 5 watermelon seeds from black felt. Hot glue them to the front of the watermelon.
