  • Following diagram, stitch rectangles together with 1/4" seam allowance. To print the diagram, click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above).
  • Cut (2) 55" x 43" rectangles for the backing fabric and piece together to create 1 large 55" x 86" piece. Lay backing to the pieced topper wrong-sides together with a layer of batting in-between and pin well. Quilt parallel horizontal lines back and forth over the entire quilt.
  • Cut 258" of 2.5" wide binding out of fabric F (will need to be pieced). Stitch binding around the edge of the quilt, right-sides together, using 1/4 seam allowance, mitering corners as you go. Fold binding around to the back of the quilt and fold under raw edge 1/2" to finish edge. Hand stitch unsewn edge to back of quilt.

JOANN HACKS:

  • As you sew the rectangles together, remember to square-off the pieces (using a cutting board, rotary cutter and ruler) This makes it much easier to keep your rectangles and squares looking even and crisp.
  • Use painters tape to help create even horizontal stitches while quilting the layers together.
