Whale Loop No Sew Blanket – Size Approximately 57"x 71"
SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • 2yds print fleece
  • 2yds solid fleece
  • Scissors
  • Rotary cutter & mat
  • Chopstick, or similar tool
  • Tailor’s chalk or marking tool
  • Ruler

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Trim off selvedge of fleece, and true up edges of print and solid so they are the same width.
  2. Lay fleece pieces, wrong-sides together.
  3. Cut 5" square from all four corners.
  4. Cut fringe 1" or 1 1/2" wide and 5" deep.
  5. Cut a 1/2" slit in the center top of each set of strips (the end closest to the blanket).
  6. Take the top strip and insert into the slit of the bottom strip. Pull this all the way through. A chopstick makes this easier to do.
  7. Take the new top strip and pull it through the new bottom slit.
  8. Continue this with each set of strips around the blanket.

  11. Sea Turtle Bound Blanket – Size Approximately 56"x 70"

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • 2yds print fleece
  • 2yds solid fleece
  • Scissors
  • Rotary cutter & mat
  • Tailor’s chalk or marking tool
  • Ruler

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Cut solid fleece 58"x 72".
  2. Cut print fleece 56"x 70".
  3. Lay solid fleece WS up on a flat surface and center the print fleece RS up, leaving 2" of solid fleece showing all round.
  4. Pin or baste together.
  5. To make the mitered corners, place a pin in the solid fleece at the corner of the print fleece.
  6. With RST, fold diagonally and pin edges together, if desired, draw a seam line perpendicular to the fold.
  7. Finger press seam open.
  8. Turn corner RS out and fold solid fleece 2" over print fleece.
  9. Pin or baste in place.
  10. Edge stitch all around blanket.

  13. Gorilla Finished Edge Blanket – Size Approximately 56"x 70"

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • 2yds print fleece
  • 2yds solid fleece
  • Scissors
  • Rotary cutter & mat
  • Tailor’s chalk or marking tool
  • Ruler

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Cut solid fleece and printed fleece to 57"x 71".
  2. Lay rectangles right-sides together and pin around edge. Stitch 1/2" from edge, leaving small hole for turning.
  3. Turn blanket right-side out.
  4. Sew around edge of blanket 1/4" from edge, closing turning hole.

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • 1/2yd fabric each in two colors (one for shell, one for rest of body)
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Sewing machine with walking foot
  • Fiber fill
  • Turtle template (1/2" seam allowance is included)
  • Two 1/2" buttons

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Cut 1 turtle base, 2 turtle shells, 4 turtle front legs and 4 whale back legs and 2 heads.
  2. In pairs of two, sew front and back legs right-sides together on all but short edges. Lightly fill legs with fiber fill.
  3. Sew head to marked placement on both shell and base, right-sides together.
  4. Pin legs to places indicated in template, with unfinished edges of fins flush with base, right-sides together. Baste into place.
  5. Sew turtle shell right-sides together on curved edge only.
  6. Sew base and shell right-sides together, leaving small hole for stuffing.
  7. Turn pillow right-side out. Fill pillow with fiber fill and slip-stitch opening closed.
  8. Sew buttons on front of turtle head, using photo as a guide.
