Costume Hooded Cowl

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Hood pattern
  • 1 1/2yds Monster Shred jersey fabric
  • Basic sewing supplies

DIRECTIONS:

    Download and print the pattern from the GET PATTERNS tab.

  1. Sew the Cowl Scarf:
    • Cut one yard of the Monster Shred jersey fabric.
    • Lay the fabric flat, right side up.
    • Fold the fabric in half, matching selvedge edge to selvedge edge, and pin.
    • Sew along the selvedge edge with a zig-zag stitch.
    • Turn the tube right side out.
    • Fold the bottom edge up to meet the top and pin the raw edges together around the tube.
    • Sew with a zig-zag stitch, leaving 26" open for the hood.

  2. Sew the Hood:
    • Use the pattern to cut out the hood pieces.
    • Right sides together, pin the center piece to a hood side.
    • Sew with a zig-zag stitch.
    • Right sides together, pin the remaining center piece edge to the remaining hood side.
    • Sew with a zig-zag stitch.

  3. Attach the Hood to the Cowl:
    • Insert the bottom edge of the hood into the opening on the cowl scarf.
    • Fold the raw edges of the cowl scarf opening down and pin in place.
    • Sew over the folded edge with a zig zag stitch.

  4. Wear the Cowl Hood:
    • Place the cowl around your neck and loop around once.
