Clay Earring Holder and Earrings

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Sculpey® Premo™ Clay – various colors
  • Earring backs 
  • Jewelry and bead glue
  • Clay tools
  • Baking sheet
  • Aluminum foil
  • Rolling pin
  • Fine grit sandpaper

DIRECTIONS:

    Earrings
  1. Knead clay until easily workable.
  2. Shape clay into desired shape.
  3. Bake clay according to package directions. 
  4. Glue earring backs to earrings.

  5. Earring Holder
  6. To make an ombre effect with the clay, knead 2 colors of clay until easily workable.
  7. Roll each color of clay into a rectangle, 1/8" thick.
  8. Cut the rectangle on the diagonal to form 2 triangles. Stack the two triangles on top of each other and match the two colors together to form a new rectangle.
  9. Fold the rectangle in half long ways and roll out, starting at the fold until the clay is 1/8" thick.
  10. Repeat until the clay is blended the desired amount.
  11. Roll clay to 1/8" thick and cut out desired earring holder shape. Cut a separate base that is as wide as the holder and 1-2" tall.
  12. Use a scribe tool to make holes in the clay surface.
  13. Bake clay according to package directions 
  14. Sand any rough edges using the fine grit sandpaper.
  15. Glue the base to the earring holder. Allow to dry completely before use.

  • When baking, cover clay with aluminum tray to prevent burning.
