SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 3 colors of canvas. We used yellow, blue and red.
  • Sewing machine
  • Cricut white iron-on vinyl sheets
  • Measuring tape
  • Scissors
  • Nylon thread in matching colors
  • Iron
  • Towel

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Wash and iron canvas material.
  2. Create a 45" x 25" pattern; this will be the sides of the sack.
  3. The bottom of the sack will be a circle with a diameter 14". The handles will be made in matching canvas, you will need two, 2" x 12" strips.
  4. Sew together the 45 x 25 rectangle to make a cylinder 25" in height. Make sure the material is inside out and the the seam is half an inch.
  5. Once bottom circle is cut out, pin the bottom of the sack to the sides (the canvas should still be inside out). Pin the bottom and sides completely before sewing together. Sew bottom to sides.
  6. Fold handles in half making them 1" x 12". Sew the folded halves. Sew a handle to each side of the sack.
  7. Use Cricut software and machine to create and cut a large number 1, 2 and 3 using Cricut iron-on vinyl.
  8. “Weed" extra vinyl from number. Center the number on the sack, use a dish towel between iron and vinyl. Press iron to the number for twenty seconds. Allow the number to cool completely before removing protective plastic.
