SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
- For EACH basket:
- 1/4yd flannel - Main Color
- 1/4yd flannel - Lining
- 3/8yd Pellon Flex Foam Sew-In Interfacing
- Thread
- Sewing machine
- Basic sewing supplies
DIRECTIONS:
- NOTE: Seam Allowances are 1/4".
- Cut out as follows: Main Color - Side 18"x 6", Bottom 6" circle, Handle 3"x 6". Lining - Side 17"x 6", Bottom 6" circle. Interfacing - Side 18"x 6", Bottom 6" circle.
- Stitch foam interfacing to the wrong side of Main Color 1/8" from edges. Sew side short edges together. Mark the long side and circle in quarters. Pin and sew. NOTE: Directional prints should face up, away from the circle.
- Handle: Press long edges to meet in center. Fold in half, forming a 3/4" handle. Edge stitch both long sides. Pin to right side of foam basket at seam line, having ends side by side, and raw edges even. Sew scant 1/4" from edge.
- Lining - Trim scant 1/4" from edge of lining circle. Sew short sides of lining side, leaving a 4" opening. Mark and sew the long side to circle.
- Mark top of lining and basket in quarters. Turn the basket inside out. Insert lining, right sides together, matching quarter marks. Sew from inside, stretching lining to fit. HINT: Place lining seam at SIDE of basket to be less visible.
- Pull basket through lining opening. Fold in opening edges and slip stitch lining closed. HINT: Reach in and compress foam to pull through.
- Push lining into basket, allowing 1/4"-3/8" of lining to show on the outside of basket. Stitch lining in place along seam line.
- Fold handle up and stitch through all layers at top edge of basket.
