Directions
With smaller hook, ch 11.
1st row: 1 yoh-sl st in 2nd ch from hook. 1 yoh-sl st in each ch to end of ch. Turn. 10 sts.
2nd row: Ch 1. *Work 1 yoh-sl st into horizontal bar created below st in previous row (bar is below loops normally worked on WS – see diagram). Rep from * to end of row. Turn.
Rep 2nd row until work from beg measures 22" [56 cm] when slightly stretched.
Joining row: Work 1 row of sc through both thicknesses to join last row with foundation row.
Note: All rnds are joined with sl st to first hdc.
Ch 2 at beg of rnd does not count as st.
Change to larger hook.
1st rnd: Ch 2. Working around straight edge of ribbing, work
56 hdc evenly around. Join. 2nd rnd: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc around. Join.
Rep 2nd rnd until work from lower edge measures 6½" [16.5 cm].
Shape Crown: 1st rnd: Ch 2. *1 hdc in each of next 6 sts. Hdc2tog. Rep from * around. Join. 49 hdc.
2nd rnd: Ch 2. *1 hdc in each of next 5 sts. Hdc2tog. Rep from * around. Join. 42 hdc.
3rd rnd: Ch 2. *1 hdc in each of next 4 sts. Hdc2tog. Rep -from * around. Join. 35 hdc.
4th rnd: Ch 2. *1 hdc in each of next 3 sts. Hdc2tog. Rep from * around. Join. 28 hdc.
5th rnd: Ch 2. *1 hdc in each of next 2 sts. Hdc2tog. Rep from * around. Join. 21 hdc.
6th rnd: Ch 2. *1 hdc in next hdc. Hdc2tog. Rep from * around. Join. 14 hdc.
7th rnd: Ch 2. *Hdc2tog. Rep from * around. Join. 7 hdc. Fasten off, leaving a long end. Draw end tightly through rem sts and secure tightly.
