DIRECTIONS:
  1. BIBS- Enlarge Bib Image to 200%
  2. Knotted: Cut two pattern pieces from flannel. To add trim with wide straight base edge, apply trim to front panel. Place outer decorative edge of trim facing toward center of front panel. Locate the center bottom of front panel. Adjust the trim distance from the cut edges of the front to ensure that the trim base edge will be caught in the 1/4" SA when front and back are sewn together. Start pinning the trim at the center bottom of the front panel working up to the approximate location on the sides. This will ensure that the ends of the pattern of the trim are symmetrical. Fold over the ends of the trim and angle out past the raw edges of the front. Sew the trim to the front.
  3. Place the front and back panels RST. Sew 1/4" SA leaving the center bottom 3" open for turning. Trim edges, except opening space, to 1/8". Turn RSO. Use dowel or chopstick to gently push out ties. Fold in opening raw edges to match other edges. Press. Hand stitch opening closed or topstitch 1/4" from edges.
  4. Use a square knot to tie the ties together.
  5. Velcro: Cut two pattern pieces on fold from flannel. For trim around outside edge repeat process from Knotted Bib. For trim toward bottom edge use the line indicated on the pattern as a suggested placement on the front panel. Extend the raw ends of the trim beyond the raw edges of the front fabric. Zigzag stitch through the center of the top edge of the trim to secure.
  6. Place the front and back panels RST. Sew 1/4" SA leaving one side of bottom open 2" for turning. Trim edges, except opening space, to 1/8". Cut corners at an angle to reduce fabric bulk. Turn RSO. Use dowel or chopstick to gently push out straps and corners. Fold in opening raw edges to match other edges. Press. Hand stitch opening closed or topstitch 1/4" from edges.
  7. Cut one 1" piece of Velcro. Place the hook side to the back of the left strap. Sew around the edges. Place the loop side to the front of the right strap. Sew around the edges.

  8. BURP CLOTHES-6 3/4" wide at center, 9 1/2" wide at widest part, total length 20 3/4"
  9. Cut two of pattern on fold, one from flannel, one from terry cloth. Pin RST. Sew 1/2" SA leaving 3" open on one end to turn. Trim edges, except opening space, to 1/4". Fold in opening raw edges to match other edges. Press. Topstitch 1/4" from edges.

  10. HEADBANDS
  11. Knotted: Cut four pattern pieces from flannel. Fold short straight ends WST 1/2" and sew. This will create a finished slot for the elastic. Pin two sides RST. Sew close to the edges leaving the short straight end open. Trim the curves to 1/8". Turn RSO. Use dowel or chopstick to gently push out ends a small amount at a time. Flatten seams and press. Repeat.
  12. Cut one 2 1/2" piece of elastic. Insert one end 1/2" into open end of fabric tube. Sew close to edge of fabric to secure elastic and to close the end of the fabric. Back stitch. Repeat for other end of elastic.
  13. Tie the ends of the fabric in a square knot.
  14. Bows: Cut one piece of flannel 5"x 6". Fold RST to 3"x 5". Sew close to edges, folded edge also, leaving 1 1/4" open at the center of the 5" side. Trim the corners at an angle to reduce fabric bulk. Turn RSO. Fold in opening raw edges. Press.
  15. Center Wrap: Cut one piece of flannel 3"x 4". Fold WST lengthwise. Sew 1/4" SA. Press seam open and centered on one side of tube. Fold one short end to the seam side 1/2" and sew in place.
  16. Elastic: Cut one 13" length of 1" soft elastic. Overlap ends 1" to create a loop. Sew around the edges of the 1" overlap to secure.
  17. Attach parts together. Pinch together the center of the bow in an accordion fold. This is the area where the opening lands. Hand stitch to hold the fold. With the same thread sew the overlapped ends of the elastic loop to the back of the bow. Tie off the thread. Place the center wrap around the folded center of the bow and the elastic. Overlap the ends so the folded end is centered on the back of the bow. Hand stitch the center wrap together and sew the elastic to the center wrap on both sides.

JOANN HACKS:
  • Backstitch next to all openings for turning panels.
  • Trim may be applied to the front panels of bibs by attaching with the topstitch.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Baby Bibs, Burp Cloths and Headbands The instruction says zoom to 200%, trying to enlarge the image at 200% did not work, the bib was way to big for the paper, I had to continue to decrease the percentage to fit the paper. After many attempts, the percentage that I came up with was between 185% and 190% for it to fit the paper.
