Wonderful denim fabric. So easy to work with. Cut
Out pattern with pinking shears which eliminates any fraying. My sewing skills are limited but I’m receiving compliments for a vest I made. I can’t lie, I think it’s because of the quality of the fabric.

Perfect stretch, color, etc. But smell is appalling.
I bought this denim to make a pair of Jalie Eleanor Jeans. The fabric works well for this. It has great stretch, and is the right weight for a nice pair of summer jeans. But the smell is appalling. I lost count of the number of times I washed this stuff. I tried washing it in vinegar and with fabric softener. Nothing helped. It stank up my sewing room when I was working on it and my jeans stink when I wear them. It smells sort of like formaldehyde and makes me uneasy about wearing the jeans because I wonder about the chemicals in this fabric. I hope Joann's will continue to stock stretch denim because Eleanor Jeans are my go-to jeans and they require denim with 20% stretch. I would much rather buy from my local store than order this fabric on line. However, I hope you find a stretch denim that does not smell like a dissection lab.

It's nice, but it's a stinker!
I didn't care if this had stretch or not so the other reviews really didn't bother me too much. It wasn't until I got it home and pulled it out of the bag that I realized it has a very distinct odor. It's almost reminiscent of mothballs and formaldehyde, and even after washing, it is still noticeable. I have coated it in febreze once already in hopes of getting rid of the smell, but now it just smells of flowery mothballs and formaldehyde. Going to attempt another round of febreze in hopes that maybe I just didn't spray it enough, but if that doesn't work then my next step is to try Gain detergent and fabric softener because that smell can overpower almost anything. No lie, I am this close to spraying it with the products that you use to clean up pet urine in hopes that that might kill it, because the smell gives me a headache and I don't want to smell like a corpse that crawled out of some old lady's closet.
Other than that the fabric is actually not bad. As the others have said it really doesn't have much by way of stretch so calling it a stretch fabric is a bit of a misnomer unless you're stretching it on the bias. All in all not really a bad fabric, if you can get past the smell.

I can’t perceive any stretch in this fabric. I agree with other reviews that the fabric itself is satisfactory if I just needed a light weight denim but it will not work for what I bought it for because there isn’t any stretch.

It does not seem to stretch at all in either direction, the weight seems right and the color is close enough (on my screen the image seems lighter than the true color but that's not unexpected). So totally fine to use like a chambray, but not for what I wanted (stretch jeans).

I don’t see or feel any kind of stretch.
The fabric looks nice and feels nice but I’m not sure where the stretch is in this fabric. I wish they would have listed how much stretch this fabric has. I need a fabric with 1% stretch in the denim but I don’t feel any at all in this fabric.

I love this denim so much!!! I use it all the time for myself and in my business. Has a slight amount of stretch, but not a ton. It's perfect for what I use it for!!!
